Maggie, a proud American hailing from sunny California, crossed paths with Claudio in the vibrant city of Toronto, Canada, where their love story began. Tying the knot in 2004, they embarked on a journey that led them back to the warmth of California after tenderly caring for ailing grandparents. Nestled in Ventura, they found solace in its coastal charm and tight-knit community.Their familial nest includes their talented son Louis, who serves as a culinary maestro in the gastronomic haven of France. Alongside him, their household boasts a delightful menagerie—a noble steed, affectionately named Sarge, rescued from the brink of despair, two loyal canine companions Rudi and Kodi, and a quartet of tortoises—Jerry, Eli, Joel, Leo.
Sarge, a symbol of resilience and newfound joy, holds a special place in their hearts. Initially intended for Maggie’s equine escapades, Sarge’s gentle spirit captured Claudio’s affection, prompting the addition of Shamrock to their equestrian adventures. Their furry friends, Rudi & Kodi, stand as pillars of unwavering companionship. Rudi passed away we got our first English Cream Retriever and named him Bowie.
Their home expanded to include Maggie’s mother’s beloved Russian Terrier, and though the family has bid farewell to cherished pets like Rudi & Kodi and some of their beloved tortoises, their hearts remained open to new companionship. Claudio proudly became an American citizen in 2017, marking a significant milestone in their journey.
And with that, heir household welcomed Bowie, offering solace in the wake of Rudi’s passing. Additionally, they extended their care to Lucy and Roxy, two delightful hens.
Recently, in April 2023, Claudio and Maggie bid a tearful farewell to their cherished Kodi, a faithful companion whose calm and loving presence had graced their lives. Yet, amidst the somber atmosphere, fortune smiled upon them with the timely arrival of a rescue dog just days before Kodi’s passing. Kodi’s departure left a palpable void, his gentle nature earning him the title of the family’s finest canine. We adopted a Golden Retriever and named him Marti. We have two beautiful chickens named Lucy and Ethel. Lastly, our 4 California Tortoises bring us joy.
Enter Marti, a golden retriever with a heart as warm as his fur, welcomed into their home from the compassionate care of the Santa Paula animal rescue. Grateful for the solace Marti brought in the wake of Kodi’s loss, Claudio and Maggie extend heartfelt thanks to the rescue organization for their invaluable support.
At just one year old, Marti exudes youthful exuberance, his playful antics and endearing clumsiness bringing joy to each moment. Despite his size—easily the largest dog they’ve known—Marti’s charm knows no bounds. From the very first night, he found his place nestled on their bed, a tangible symbol of his swift integration into their family.
As Claudio and Maggie navigate the delicate balance of mourning Kodi’s absence while embracing Marti’s spirited presence, they find comfort in the enduring love and companionship their furry friends offer, a testament to the profound bond between humans and their beloved pets.
